On February 7, Foundation University participated in iDia 2025, an international webinar with the title “Global Synergy: Connecting Libraries to Innovate, Lead and Empower for an Inclusive Future.” A convocation of library professionals, this occasion explored forward-thinking ideas in librarianship, the evolving role of libraries, and strategies for developing inclusive library spaces in the future.
Foundation University’s involvement is part of the university library’s Human Resource Development Program (HRDP), an ongoing effort to augment the staff and library service under the twin banners of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and BRICS (Internationalization and Collaboration).
The event was hosted by the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) in partnership with Chulalongkorn University (CU), a public autonomous research university based in Bangkok, Thailand. Key voices from CU library science include Apiwat Kaewhawong, Cataloging and General Librarian, who discussed “AI Utilization and Services: An Experience from the Office of Academic Resources”, Siriporn Khamyard, expert in Cataloging and Digital Preservation, who spoke on “Library Management and ISO Standards”, and Pimnapa Amaritworachai, Director of Thailand & ASEAN Information Center who shared insights on regional library initiatives.
Dr. Jennifer C. Nueva, USeP Vice-President for Academic Affairs, opened the program with a gesture of their efforts toward international collaboration. USeP President Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales Jr. followed her formal acknowledgements with a message to the organizers and participants.
FU’s participation with iDia 2025 comes after the benchmarking activity conducted last October 2024, led by FU librarian Dr. Briccio M. Merced, Jr., RL, LPT.
