From February 19 to 21, Foundation University will hold the annual Digital Expo at the main atrium of Robinsons Place Dumaguete. The series of events is aimed to promote, in the greater community, the institution’s best practices, innovations and the effective use of technology in education.

 

A short opening ceremony on February 19 will officially begin the three-day event and the individual booths, featuring the highlights of the various colleges and departments, will be opened to the general public.

 

In the afternoon, Dr. Cecilia M. Genove will hold a talk show with FU President Victor Vicente “Dean” G. Sinco and Chancellor Atty. Ebenezer Lim who will discuss on the latest developments in the institution.

 

This will be followed by the Digital Greyhound Talk – which is part of the on-going advocacy of the University in promoting responsible digital citizenship. Led by Foundation Preparatory Academy and the University’s Office of Information and Publications, the Digital Greyhound comes as a result of the Digital Youth Summit organized by Facebook Philippines and Mano Amiga Academy held last October 2019 at the Grand Hyatt Manila.

 

The advocacy is geared towards upholding Responsible Digital Citizenship and on its first installment, the campaign efforts aims to counter cyberbullying thus, it will involve the students from Foundation University but also the Information and Communication Technology students around Negros Oriental.

 

Digital Greyhound is named after the University’s mascot and thus, reflecting the generation of today who are digital citizens in nature. Through Vlogs, and Posters to be shared through social media accounts, the students can effectively deliver the message that cyberbullying is not a good practice as there will be several individuals who might be inflicted in several aspects.

 

Afterwards, the School of Industrial Engineering and Technology and the College of Hospitality Management will spearhead activities and competitions among the students in the community.

 

On the second day, the College of Business Administration will take center stage featuring the FU Business Ideas Development Awards (FU BIDA) Competition with secondary schools in the city vying for the said awards. Foundation Preparatory Academy’s Fun and Games is set to follow the said event.

 

The Department of Architecture will do a design presentation that could be a solution to one of the concerns in the Dumaguete community. This will be followed by a Variety Show featuring the talents from FPA and to cap the day, the College of Criminology will hold the Martial Arts Competition.

 

On the last day, the College of Education will take charge for the morning activities to be followed by the FPA Fun and Games and the FPA Fun Games and the Truss Esquisse by the Department of Architecture.

 

The grand finale is a cultural show featuring the various talents within Foundation University community – Abuhuni Band, Abuhuni Choir and the Buglasaway Dance Troupe. And finally, the Awarding Ceremony will be held to signal the formal closing of the three-day activity.

 

The University Digital Expo encourages and advocates the use of technology in the learning process. Through this activity, students are given the right avenue in order to exhibit skills learned from their fields of expertise.
