Foundation University is set host the pilot edition of the “Vernacular Architecture Conference on Negros Oriental and Siquijor” from September 19 to 21 to be held in Dumaguete and Siquijor, Siquijor.

Through lectures and onsite tours, architecture students, licensed architects and municipal/city planners will be able to analyze the impact of architectural icons on the region’s culture.

Participants, during the event, will come up with recommendation plans for the establishment of sustainable mechanisms for a culturally-rooted and globally competitive architectural movement.

This said project is an introductory seminar series of lectures and inputs complemented with on-site tours of representative architectural icons located in both provinces.

Done in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the conference is geared towards the determination of general characteristics of the vernacular architecture landmarks in both provinces along with its historical, social and aesthetic contexts.
