Administration officers and faculty members from Foundation University participated in the 9th Social Business Day held June 28 to 29 at Centara Grand, CentralWorld in Bangkok, Thailand.
The team was composed of University Chancellor Faisal M. Alih, Institutional Partnerships Manager Cyril Mapula, College of Business Administration Dean Dr. Charlotte V. Cariño, business administration department head Ligaya T. Concepcion member and Foundation Preparatory Academy Principal Chris G. Calumba.
This annual Social Business Day, organized by the Yunus Centre and hosted by Nobel Laureate Prof. Muhammad Yunus, bears the goal of bringing together peoples from nations to be enlightened and inspired to create solutions on pressing issues in their respective communities using the power of social business.
Themed, “Making money is happiness, making other people happy is super happiness,” the conference also aims to highlight the achievements of social business and provide opportunities for aspirants to converse and take inspiration from the established individuals.
Foundation University’s participation in the Social Business Day is one of the essential actions taken by the institution in preparation for the formal opening of the Yunus Centre at Foundation University.
It can be recalled that a formal signing of the Memorandum of Understanding was held in Manila last March between the Yunus Centre, based in Dhaka, Bangladesh and Foundation University.
Foundation University, through the signed agreement, has now become the Philippines’ first authorized center with the goal of trailblazing social business in the communities.
Part of the tasks of the Yunus Centre established at Foundation University are the conduct of research-action projects, form social business design laboratories, holding of workshops and competitions among members of the academe. The centre will also organize seminars and trainings for the business sector, government and non-government agencies and philanthropic entities.
