As the forerunner of filmmaking in the Province of Negros Oriental, Foundation University is set to host Cinema Rehiyon – the annual national gathering of regional filmmakers on February 25 to March 1.

Over a hundred filmmakers from all over the country will grace the annual celebration in time for the centennial year of Philippine Cinema.

The said gathering of filmmakers and enthusiasts aims to redefine and evaluate the meaning of Philippine cinema as perceived by today’s audiences particularly the people in the regions. Also, it bears the purpose of strengthening the regional filmmaking scene as well as provide exposure for the filmmakers and thus, encourage them to contribute further to Philippine cinema.

Cinema Rehiyon XI serves as the flagship project of the Cinema Committee of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts done in partnership with Foundation University and is co-presented by the Dumaguete City Tourism Office and other partner institutions in Dumaguete City.

Foundation University has been tasked to host the said event being the home of Lutas – Negros Oriental’s Film Festival. Organized by FU in 2013, Lutas serves as the official film festival of Negros Oriental with the aim to provide a showcase venue for budding local filmmakers. Lutas has earned the support of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and just this year, it has forged partnership with the Film Development Council of the Philippines.
