In the aim to provide a venue for local filmmakers to showcase their craft, Negros Oriental’s Lutas Film Festival is set to be staged on August 15 to 17.
Hosted and organized by Foundation University, in cooperation with the Film Development Council of the Philippines and the National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA), Lutas will feature films featuring the talents and stories from the 25 towns and cities of Negros Oriental.
The simultaneous screening of the films, “Patay na si Hesus” and “Babylon” at the CityMall Cinema and Robinsons Movie World will formally open this year’s Lutas in the presence of the filmmakers who crafted the above-mentioned films.
Aside from film screenings, lectures, workshops, and mentoring sessions, special awards will be afforded to the films that possess artistry and creativity in the said art form.
Lutas Film Festival began in November 2014 with funds from NCCA as a means to support the filmmakers in Dumaguete and Negros Oriental. Since its inception, Lutas has ignited the growing interest of the youth in film-making.
