Two films crafted by Foundationites were chosen for screening at the recently concluded Cinema Rehiyon X held February 25 to 28 across various venues within Metro Manila.


Among the films coming from the regional film festivals, Kanunay by Presy Muana and Karlo by Paul Florendo were handpicked by the organizing committee to be part of the shortlist of films to be shown during the said activity.


Muana and Florendo completed undergraduate studies in broadcast communication (2014) and fine arts (2012), respectively. Muana also works as staff at the University’s Multimedia Unit.

Organized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, Cinema Rehiyon, is aimed at showcasing the best of Filipino regional films through


film viewing, artist talks, workshops, lectures and forums hosted by educational institutions and participating organizations.

Themed, “One Country, One Cinema, One Future,” Cinema Rehiyon X was co-presented by Dakila Philippine Collective for Modern Heroism (DAKILA) and Active Vista International Human Rights Film Festival.


Meanwhile, Lutas Film Festival Director Juliet Cuizon lead the delegation from Dumaguete along with Jomar Solania who served as representative for another chosen film Pakighiuli by Morielle Alaton which won Best Editing last December.


Foundation University’s Broadcast Communication program has been adapting to the media industry’s present demands through its innovative pedagogy and training specifically in the art of filmmaking which will empower students to compete with the real world of work.
