As the University is about to open a new academic year this June, two key officials have been recently hired to contribute their expertise to the further development of the University.
Mr. Engel Boen S. Zerna and Dr. Nancy A. Comedoy will work with the University as its new cultural officer and consultant for organizational development, respectively.
Zerna’s qualifications include being a member and later, artistic director and choreographer of the Kahayag Dance Company, a locally-based dance troupe who recently won Grand Prize at the 2015 World Cultural Dance Festival in Jeonju, South Korea.
He was formerly connected with the Dumaguete Tourism Office as the unit head in the areas of Culture and Arts, and Tourism Statistics and Accreditation.
Due to his achievements in the field of culture and performing arts, Zerna was given the Ani ng Dangal Awardee for Dance by the Office of President through the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. Also, he was a recipient of the Sidlak Negorense Award in the field of the Culture and Arts bestowed by the Province of Negros Oriental.
Meanwhile, Dr. Nancy A. Comedoy has worked with several companies, organizations and institutions in the field of organizational development here in the country and abroad.
She earned her master’s degree in business administration (major in human resource management) in 1988 from the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos (UNO-R), Bacolod City. Comedoy also completed a diploma course on human resource and organizational development from the Ateneo de Manila University in 1993.
She was previously connected with Negros Oriental State University as organizational development and human resource management office consultant where she facilitated a number of workshops and designed strategic plans for the said institution.

On the other hand, Comedoy’s expertise in organizational development will further enhance the operations of the University in its primary goals of not only producing knowledgeable graduates but as well as, efficient staff and faculty members according to its core values of excellence, commitment, integrity and service.
